About Us

Vol. 12, 1: Winter 2024, Issue 43
In our final issue of 2023, we look at endings as well as beginnings. In Dorothy Steinicke’s essay “Devotion,” we see how an intimate connection with a single tree can be an emotional one, and while we cannot always save something we admire, we can be inspired by nature’s ability to regenerate, and Rosa Lane recreates the moment of the only known photo of Emily Dickinson, bringing the poet back to life. In poetry, Pepper Trail imagines the last carrier pigeon before it goes extinct, and in Suzanne Zipperer’s fiction story “Beyond the Ice,” an old man sees a boat coming to him. . .fotelling his end or a new beginning? The empty boat of our cover artist, Kurt Solmssen, symbolizes the fluid journey of beginning and end in life and the beauty it holds. Whether this is your first Catamaran issue or your newest to add to the collection, Catamaran is grateful for you as you join as we set sail.
