Youth Writing Workshop with Dan White
Saturday workshops on Dec. 1st and Dec 8th from 2-5pm
For Participants Ages 8-11 years
Do you love to make-up your own characters? Invent stories? These Saturday writing workshops will give students ages 8-11 an opportunity to explore their individual creativity through writing, drawing, book making, and other craft techniques. Dan White, author of the family camping book Under the Stars, assisted by his daughter Julianna, will introduce the students to plots and compelling characters, and how to create a really good story. He will talk about the ways that authors make fiction, while drawing from a classic toolkit of storytelling ideas to inspire participation in creative writing and craft projects that bring fiction to life.
Dan White is the author of the family camping book Under The Stars, and the hiking adventure book The Cactus Eaters. He has taught composition at Columbia University and San Jose State. He is the contributing editor of Catamaran, and received his MFA from Columbia University. He lives in Santa Cruz, California with his wife and daughter.
Workshops will take place at the Tannery Arts Center, 1050 River St., studio #118, in downtown Santa Cruz.
