The Catamaran Bridge Circle
Help Us Bridge the Gap to December
For fifteen years, Catamaran Literary Reader has published poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art, supporting writers and artists and bringing their work to readers across the country. We are facing a temporary funding gap while awaiting a substantial bequest from a longtime benefactor, currently expected in December 2026. This legacy gift is intended to provide financial stability, but the delay has created an immediate challenge. Despite the success of our recent writing retreat at Cavallo Point, which helped cover publication of our summer issue and operating expenses to date, we still face a funding gap. The retreat brought us 75% of the way toward our fundraising goal, but we need an additional $25,000 to support publication of the fall issue. Having exhausted other fundraising possibilities, we are inviting a small circle of supporters to help us bridge this gap until our anticipated bequest arrives in December 2026. Our founder and executive director has also gone without a salary this year to keep the magazine operating.

How Your Bridge Loan Works
Loans will be made online by credit card. Upon receipt of the bequest expected in December 2026, Catamaran intends to initiate repayment of the full principal to the original form of payment. All bridge loans will be repaid in full no later than January 31, 2027, regardless of when the bequest arrives.
Bridge Circle Recognition
Each lender will receive a complimentary two-year subscription to Catamaran Literary Reader, including the annual poetry book, and acknowledgment in the magazine masthead as a member of the Catamaran Bridge Circle.
Online Bridge Loan Agreement
By selecting a tier, acknowledging these terms, and completing online payment, the lender agrees that:
1. Loan amount: The selected $500, $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 payment is an interest-free loan to Catamaran Literary Reader, not a charitable donation, and is not tax-deductible.
2. Repayment: Catamaran expects a substantial bequest in December 2026 and intends to repay promptly upon receipt. It agrees to repay 100% of principal no later than January 31, 2027, whether or not the bequest has arrived.
3. Repayment method: Catamaran will initiate an online refund to the original credit card.
4. Recognition: The lender receives the two-year subscription, annual poetry book, and Bridge Circle masthead acknowledgment described above.
5. Online acceptance: Checking the agreement acknowledgment and completing payment constitutes acceptance of these terms; no physical signature is required.
Thank you for helping Catamaran continue its mission while we await this important legacy gift.
