Mayme Kratz

Mayme Kratz’s mixed-media assemblages feature plant and organic materials that she disassembles and rearranges into kaleidoscopic patterns on panel before encasing them in colorful resins. The compositions often come to Kratz in dreams or in those suspended moments between states of consciousness right before sleep. Combined with a smooth, matte finish achieved by hand-sanding, these mesmerizing arrangements recast the natural world in poetic and inspired terms.

Interview: Aaron Tyler Hand

The Rot that comes for everything

Aaron Hand’s debut poetry collection, the 2025 Catamaran Prize for West Coast Poets–winning Floodchaser, features vacillating sections that trade off between exploring the speaker’s familial history and an elaborately constructed, intimate reimagining of the story of Noah’s ark. Even beyond this epistolary retelling, Hand’s debut is preternaturally interested in exploring a vast array of forms and styles, including duplexes, elegies, and even poems written in the form of a direct message transcription.
