Poetry Workshop with Dorianne Laux

This course will meet online via Zoom

In this virtual poetry writing workshop, poet Dorianne Laux will conduct a generative writing course open to poets of all levels. Dorianne will lecture on poetry craft, and lead participants in writing exercises. Writers will generate new poems and receive feedback on work drafted during this workshop.

The registration fee is $150 for the workshop only, or $200 for the workshop plus signed copies of Dorianne’s new books - the textbook Finger Exercises for Poets (W. W. Norton, 2024), and the poetry collection Life on Earth (W. W. Norton, 2024).

Upon registration, participants will receive a welcome email with a Zoom link and more information including handouts from Doriannes’s workshop assistant, who will also be available to answer any questions and provide technical assistance.

Dorianne Laux’s sixth collection, Only As the Day Is Long: New and Selected Poems was named a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. Her fifth collection, The Book of Men, was awarded The Paterson Prize. Her fourth book of poems, Facts About the Moon, won The Oregon Book Award and was short-listed for the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize. Laux is also the author of Awake; What We Carry, a finalist for the National Book Critic’s Circle Award; Smoke; as well as a fine small press edition, The Book of Women. She is the co-author of the celebrated text The Poet's Companion: A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry. Her latest collection is Life On Earth and was released in January of 2024.
