Lit Chat with Dane Cervine

Join us on First Friday art walk at the Tannery Arts Center to celebrate local Santa Cruz poet Dane Cervine’s new books of poetry. Dane has published 2 new books this year. His new poetry collections featuring poems initially published in Catamaran are: The Gateless Gate – Polishing the Moon Sword, from Saddle Road Press in Hawaii, and Earth Is a Fickle Dancerfrom Main Street Rag in North Carolina

 We will have a reception with Dane at 6:00, followed by a discussion and reading at 6:30. Books will be available for purchase and Dane will be available to sign books after the Lit Chat from 7:00 - 7:30.

Dane Cervine’s recent books include Earth Is a Fickle Dancer (Main Street Rag), and The Gateless Gate – Polishing the Moon Sword, from Saddle Road Press in Hawaii, a cross-genre work of Zen koan & prose poems. Previous poetry books include Kung Fu of the Dark Father, How Therapists Dance, The Jeweled Net of Indra, and What a Father Dreams. Dane’s poems have won awards from Adrienne Rich, Tony Hoagland, the Atlanta ReviewCaesura, and been nominated for a Pushcart. Dane Cervine lives in Santa Cruz, California—where he works as a therapist, and is the emeritus Chief of Children’s Mental Health for the county. His work integrates the arts of therapy and writing with a long-standing meditation practice.
